Owner & Head Coach
Owner & Head Coach
As co-owner of Swim Jozi, I am both the Head coach of the Squad program and a learn-to-swim instructor with over two decades of experience, having started teaching in 2003. My focus has always been on ensuring that both children and adults feel safe, confident, and capable in and around the pool environment.
Before dedicating myself fully to swimming, I worked as a paramedic and operational medic instructor. This background has shaped my strong focus on water safety, awareness, and building calm confidence in the water.
I work with swimmers of all levels, from beginners learning essential water safety skills to competitive swimmers refining advanced technique. I have a particular passion for teaching adults and working with swimmers with special needs, which I find incredibly rewarding.
Helping each swimmer progress at their own pace while building confidence and skill in the water is at the heart of what I do.
Owner & Coach
Owner & Coach
I am the proud owner and an instructor at our flagship swim school, with over 24 years of experience in the industry. Swim Jozi originally began as a small swim school in Little Falls and has since grown into a well-established swimming school and aquatic centre.
My journey working with children began outside of the pool, where I gained extensive experience with babies and young children from as young as one month to eight years old. I was the owner of a Moms and Babes franchise for 14 years, an infant and toddler stimulation program where I worked closely with occupational therapists and physiotherapists, supporting babies in developing their gross motor skills and milestone development. Clamber Club, a child and toddler development program, became a natural addition, where I received further training from Liz Senior, the occupational therapist and founder of Clamber Club.
Building on the knowledge and experience gained through these programs, I became the first registered AQUATOTS franchise in South Africa in 2003, where I received training from Nell White, the founder of AQUATOTS. That same year, we built our first swim school in Little Falls. In 2006, we opened Swim Jozi, our flagship school in Ruimsig, and in 2007 we expanded further by opening our preschool.
I have a deep passion for the ocean and am actively involved in various water sports, including being an avid diver. Sharing my love for the water and helping others build confidence in it is something I truly value. I am currently passionate about mentoring and developing future learn-to-swim instructors.
Coach
Coach
I have been a Learn to Swim instructor at Swim Jozi since 2017 and am passionate about helping both children and adults become confident and capable in the water. My love for the ocean has always been a driving force behind my teaching, and I enjoy sharing that passion with my swimmers while helping them develop strong aquatic skills.
Over the years, I have worked with swimmers of many ages, teaching a wide range of water skills, including snorkeling and ocean awareness. I also gained valuable experience as a marine educator in the Caribbean, where I worked at the Central Caribbean Marine Institute, teaching marine conservation and ocean education.
Through my teaching, I aim to inspire confidence in the water while fostering a respect and appreciation for the ocean.
Learn to Swim Teacher
Learn to Swim Teacher
With over 15 years of experience working with and coaching children, this is my third year with the Swim Jozi team. Alongside coaching various sports, I have also worked as an online English teacher and football referee.
Swimming has become a true passion of mine because it’s such an important life skill for both children and adults. As an SDIT-trained instructor, I love helping swimmers overcome fear, build confidence, and celebrate their progress in the water.
The positive energy at Swim Jozi and the smiles on the children’s faces make it incredibly rewarding.
